Dr. Alicia Corral combines her career as an actress with performative research and teaching. In 2010 she won a Research Award from Institut del Teatre to do fieldwork in India where she studied voice, yoga and Vedic chanting. In 2007 she was invited to participate in the “Work Encounter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards” in Wroclaw (Poland) working with Thomas Richards and his group in their research for “Art as Vehicle”. She collaborated as an actress with the performative research group “Drama Ritual” in Barcelona directed by Pere Sais. She travelled to Italy to work with Mario Biagini in Pontedera, with Jairo Cuesta and Jim Slowiak in their “Laboratory of Performance Ecology” and with Roberto Romei in “La Prima del Teatro, Scuola Europea per l’Arte dell Attore” in San Miniato. She has worked as an actress in the productions “Ventdavall” (People’s Choice Award) for best performance in the Festival Muestra de Teatro of Barcelona 2009), “El col.laborador”, “Arca, un sueño en crisis 5.2.”, “Ergo” and “Viaje sonoro” among others. In 2013 she finished her teacher training program in Vedic chanting in England with her master teachers from India. She has just recorded her first album of Vedic chanting with her group “Namaskar” in Barcelona in 2014.
