Doug Chapman is a NYC-based actor and teaching artist. As a teacher, Doug specializes in the holistic development of actors through the integration of training methods developed at the Moscow Art Theatre School with the somatic foundations of Fitzmaurice Voicework. Doug’s film credits include the lead in In the Shadow of the Water Tower, a noire-inspired docudrama, directed by Lewis Smithingham, nominated for competition at the Raindance Festival (London) and earning critical praise from Guy Maddin and Werner Herzog. While at the American Repertory Theatre, Doug performed as The Doctor in David Mamet’s Romance, directed by Scott Zigler and Dorn (u/s), in The Seagull, directed by János Szász. NY credits include work with Empirical Rogue Theatre Co, The Living Theatre, La Mama, Studio Six and Academy award-nominated International Wow Company. Doug is currently developing a new musical-fantasy called The Water Dream, which featured at the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival, and recently made his Australian debut in Lies, Love & Hitler at the Old Fitzroy theatre in Sydney.
