Karla Nielson is a freelance director, writer, voice and dialect coach and actor in New York City. She received her Master of of Music in Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, and while there received fellowships to teach both piano and English. She moved to New York after receiving her MFA in Acting from the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware. She has directed Ariadne auf Naxos with the Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble in New York and Le Tragedie de Carmen at the Harrisburg (PA) Opera, and recently coached dialects for Five by Tenn in New York. She has performed in numerous Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway productions and her regional acting credits include Utah Shakespearean Festival, Texas Shakespeare Festival and Westerly (RI) Shakespeare in the Park. She teaches actors, singers, teachers, business people – anyone who is committed to finding a freer and more efficient and expressive way of communicating. In addition to voice, Karla coaches text/verse, dialects, and accent modification.
