The Catherine Fitzmaurice Endowment Fund

I would like to give to the Institute.

The Fitzmaurice Voice Institute is dedicated to preserving and furthering Catherine Fitzmaurice's groundbreaking work and legacy.
We rely on private donations and need strong community support!

WHAT FITZMAURICE VOICE INSTITUTE OFFERS:  Fitzmaurice Voicework is taught at Yale School of Drama, Harvard University/American Repertory Theatre’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training, New York University’s Graduate Acting Program (and some NYU undergraduate studios), the University of California-Irvine, and hundreds of other institutions around the world. There are approximately 300 certified Fitzmaurice teachers across six continents. Our Certification Program offers people with an affinity for Fitzmaurice Voicework an opportunity to experience it much more deeply and learn practical ways to share it with others.

To expand the work globally, the Institute offers annually four online pre-certification courses, four 5-day in-person workshops, and an international hybrid conference every other year, monthly free online offerings, published research studies and creative projects. The core of our programming is our international two-year teacher certification course which certifies 18-20 new teachers.

Advanced training for certified teachers includes yearly 2-5 day retreats, three hybrid advanced training modules, and a monthly newsletter and online gatherings. All of this is coordinated by the volunteer advisory group of lead teachers which meets monthly.

HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED: The Catherine Fitzmaurice Legacy Fund is invested and growing.

Your contributions help us bring Fitzmaurice Voicework to the world by creating and maintaining various projects including:

  • Expanding Fitzmaurice Voicework’s availability to the public, including under-served communities.

  • Certifying Fitzmaurice Voicework teachers, supporting their continuing growth, and encouraging their connection with each other.

  • Preserving the foundations of Fitzmaurice Voicework while supporting its evolution.

  • Archiving published and unpublished writings, personal files, photos, and videos - the process of conversion, digitization and development of this large amount of materials is expensive both in time and money.

  •  Publishing Catherine Fitzmaurice two books in progress in print and as eBooks in multiple languages.

  • Producing, sponsoring, and highlighting research, events, and publications for and by local and international Fitzmaurice communities.

  • Offering scholarships to students of the global majority.

  • Offering reduced tuition for students of the global majority.

  • Outreach to historically ignored communities.

The endowment is crucial to protecting  the quality of programming and the organization’s future.

Since becoming a nonprofit in 2017,  programming and courses have been made possible through the generous financial support of private donors who deeply believe in importance of the work. All of the students, volunteers, staff, and course leaders are very appreciative of these major sources of help. Private contributions – ranging from ten dollars to several thousand dollars – from individuals like you have sustained the organization. These generous donations have allowed us to keep course tuition affordable and to provide a means for us to continually reach out to find new individuals who would benefit from these programs.
