Stephanie Hunt is an actor, director, and teacher based in San Francisco. She has acted at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Magic Theater, Campo Santo, and the Aurora Theatre, and was a founding member of the award-winning comedy improv group Pulp Playhouse. As a Charter Company member of Word for Word Performing Arts Company (Z Space Studio), Stephanie has originated roles in over a dozen productions. For Word for Word, she directed All Aunt Hagar’s Children by Edward P. Jones, the Tobias Wolff stories Bullet in the Brain and Lady’s Dream, and Cornell Woolrich’s Angel Face.
Stephanie coached the dialects for the world premiere production of John Steinbeck’s Pastures of Heaven by Octavio Solis at the California Shakespeare Theater, Cabaret at Stanford University, and Word for Word’s production of Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge.
Stephanie currently teaches voice and acting at the University of San Francisco, Stanford University, and voice at the American Conservatory Theater during the Summer Training Congress. She has also taught acting and voice at San Francisco State University, Chabot College, Sonoma State, and done numerous workshops and residencies. Stephanie studied Fitzmaurice Voicework for six years with Cynthia Bassham in San Francisco. Also, she has studied voice with Virginia Ness and speech/text with Lynne Soffer, Deborah Sussel, Deborah Hecht, and Mary Braaten. She is committed to creating and teaching ensemble-based theater with a focus on heightened language.
