Barbara Karger is an Associate Professor of Theater at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Her field of teaching is acting, voice, physical theater, directing and playwriting. She also directs student productions. She received her degree at the renowned Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany where she studied with Günter Titt and Bettina Falckenberg. Other training includes Clowning with Pierre Byland and Roy Bosier, Physical Theater with Yves Lebreton, Linklater technique with Walton Wilson, and Suzuki and Viewpoints with Anne Bogart and Siti Company. She has taught courses and workshops in theater schools around Europe and in the US, including NYU Tisch, Cooper Union and the New School and has worked extensively as a movement director and coach. As a performer she was a member of Antagon Theater, which she co-founded, xx-project, Bobo Dance, Faustwork, and toured the world with the Swiss mask-theater company Mummenschanz. Her directing work and collaborations include the original musical Ludwig II in Bavaria, Peter and the Wolf at Theater Carré in Amsterdam, Bindlestiff Family Circus’ High Heels and Red Noses and From the Gutter to the Glitter, the New York Goof’s Clown Brain, and most recently Fräulein Maria, which was presented at Jacob’s Pillow, ADF, Dance Theater Workshop in New York, Arts Emerson in Boston, and Hartford Stage.
