Beth has worked as a vocal and accent/dialect coach both on and off Broadway, in regional theatre, and in film and television, for over 35 years. She was a Professor in Acting and Director of Speech & Dialects at Yale School of Drama (DGSD) from 1999-2022, and she has been a guest lecturer at NYU Tisch grad acting and at the Juilliard School.
Beth lives in NYC and has a private practice teaching and coaching. Her book, African Accents: A Workbook for Actors, is the first practical comprehensive analysis of the genre. Beth also co-teaches a training program for professionals and rising professionals in accent, dialect, phonology and text work with her colleague Jane Guyer Fujita.

Beth’s favorite film projects include Sinners, Black Panther, Us, and Wild Robot. Favorite stage projects include Broadway productions of A Streetcar Named Desire with Blair Underwood, Nicole Ari Parker directed by Emily Mann and Eclipsed by Danai Gurira on Broadway, with Lupita Nyong’o, directed by Liesl Tommy.

Beth is a certified teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and a member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity, and the Actor’s Center in NYC.
