Mel House (she/her/hers) is an award-winning actress, comedian, filmmaker, and voice teacher based in New York City. She wishes people understood the interconnected nature of our reality—it would literally save the planet! So she tells stories, makes jokes and takes on projects to inspire empathy and build bridges. Right now she is obsessed with channeling women’s anger to create a more safe and equitable world. And is looking forward to launching her dark comedy digital series HOT ANGRY MOM (a 2019 finalist for Sundance’s New Voices Lab - @hotangrymom) onto the International film festival circuit in 2023. Mel is a Certified Assistant teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and is excited to support women through dynamic workshops and private coaching to access their full voices.

Mel has played iconic roles from Shakespeare to Ibsen, working Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally, as well as originating roles for the web, film, and TV. Most recently Mel played Judy in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and toured internationally in Rome, Cagliari, Belgrade, Dublin, and NYC with a new play about same-sex parenting. She has shared the stage with talent like Richard Easton, Michael Cerveris, Ally Sheedy, and Kathryn Erbe, and appeared opposite Chad Coleman in Broken Bird at the Berlin International Film Festival and SXSW 2020.

Mel brings 20+ years of experience to teaching and coaching for organizations including Lincoln Center Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Theatre for a New Audience, Literature to Life, Young Audiences of New York, Rutgers University, the University of Dubuque, The Browning School, The Regis School, The St. Paul’s Schools, and Goucher College. Mel completed the William Esper Studio 2-year conservatory program and is a resident company member with the Actors Center, where she works with Master Teachers including Ron Van Lieu, Becky Guy, Michele Shay, Maria Aitken, Paola Coletta, Dakin Matthews, and Grace Zandarski. In 2019, she studied with Per Brahe doing mask-based work at Balerung Stage, in Bali, Indonesia. And in 2022, she studied clowning with Philippe Gaulier in France.

Mel is a member of VASTA, New Work Women in Film & TV, The Gotham, SAG-AFTRA and AEA. For more visit www.melhouse.com.
