Leo Van Cleynenbreugel grew up surrounded by classical music. As a boy soprano, he sang in four productions at the Brussels opera. His mother taught him violin, and he studied some pipe organ as well. After finishing high school, he went to Ghent University to study Indology (Hindi, Sanskrit). During his studies, he spent a year in India, learning traditional temple theatre, volunteering, and travelling around. Finishing his Masters degree, he translated a Bhasa play and wrote about Kutiyattam, a temple theatre tradition in Kerala. He then started the drama training in the School of Arts (Ghent), where he first experienced Fitzmaurice Voicework. Social (in)equality, advaita philosophy, and trauma release are major themes that inspire his artistic work. He is passionate about singing, travelling, playing the ukulele, and guiding people through voice work.

MFA in Drama Candidate, University of Ghent; MA University of Ghent; BFA School of Arts, Ghent.
