Certified Lead Teacher Ron Carlos is a voice, speech, and dialect coach based in Los Angeles and New York City. He holds an MFA in Voice and Speech Pedagogy from the American Repertory Theater Institute at Harvard University. Ron taught speech and dialects at the Yale School of Drama, now the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University from 2014-2019, and was the Acting Director of Advanced Training at the Fitzmaurice Institute from 2020-2022. He has worked on Broadway, at The Public Theater, Abingdon, MCC, New York Theatre Workshop, and Gym at Judson. Regionally his work has been heard at Yale Repertory Theater, The Alley, Two River Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Hartford Stage, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Gloucester Stage, and The American Repertory Theater. Film work includes Black Widow, The Bagman, The Week Of, and Love Is Blind. His television work includes Daisy Jones & The Six, The Comey Rule, NCIS: LA, Monsterland, Orange Is The New Black, The Enemy Within, Madam Secretary, Unforgettable, Power, Fringe, and Family Pictures USA.

This 5-day intensive workshop is designed to both introduce Fitzmaurice Voicework® to people new to the work as well as provide those already familiar with the work with a more in-depth experience of their voice, body, and breath. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of Fitzmaurice Voicework®: Destructuring®, to explore a free range of breathing and voice, and Restructuring®, to practice breath management and focused intention. Participants will then explore how these techniques apply to and support work with text, speech and articulation, and singing. Participants will finish the experience with a new understanding of their breath, body, and voice, and how to organically engage all three to speak or sing with a deeper sense of connection.
This workshop satisfies the prerequisite for Teacher Certification in Fitzmaurice Voicework®.
Class size will be limited. Please remember that our workshops tend to fill early. We recommend registering as soon as you know you want to join us. We will maintain a waiting list if necessary.
